Diamond Turning

Syntec Optics is one of very few facilities worldwide with expertise in both opaque and optical molds. Single point diamond turning, including HRDT™, our patent-pending process for high refraction diamond turning, is the key to achieving optical precision.

Most recently we have installed Moore Nanotech 250 diamond-turning equipment, renowned for achieving exceptionally accurate surfaces. Our configuration includes a C-Axis for outstanding flexibility in machining complex spheres, toroids and diffractives, both for molds and finished optics. All these lens types are required for the demanding geometries of modern applications. We also have a full complement of supporting tooling skills and equipment, including milling and grinding machines and high precision wire and die sink EDM equipment.

In both design and execution, we combine our experience making non-optical molds and tooling with a thorough understanding of how optical polymers behave. Customers can count on identical results, with no additional rework, whether diamond turning prototypes or using a custom mold in our automated injection molding equipment.
